Alexander Kedrov:

Alexander Kedrov studied at the Bolshoi Ballet School, and upon his graduation was taken
into Bolshoi Ballet Company, where his teachers were Shamil Yagudin, Asaf Messerer.
Mr. Kedrov has danced with the Company throughout the world.  His repertoire include roles
such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Cyrano de Bergerac by Roland Petit, Romeo
and Juliet, The Golden Age, Ivan the Terrible, Spartacus by Yuri Grigorovich, Le Petit Prince
by Genrich Mayorov and others.
In 1990, after touring the USA, he joined the Boston Ballet, where he made his debut in the
Nutcracker, performing the role of Cavalier. He has also appeared in Swan Lake
Soviet-American Production of Boston Ballet, Giselle, Mort Subit by Mark Morris, Punchinella
by Ralf Lemon, Tales of Hans Christian Andersen by Bruce Marks, Cinderella by Ben
Stevenson, and others.
Mr Kedrov's extensive touring activity and guest appearances include:
1990 "Stars of Bolshoi Ballet" Tour in Taiwan, 1991 Boston Ballet Tour in Spain, 1992 Ballet
Gala "Glastnost" in Chicago organized by Akiva Talmi, 1993 Performed in the International
Ballet Gala in Toronto in honor of Alla
Osipenko - the Legend of Kirov Ballet, partnering Amanda McKerrow in Giselle, 1993-1995
Mr Kedrov danced the following leading roles with Ballet Memphis, Corsaire pas de duex, the
role of Prodigal Son in Prodigal Son production, The Cavalier in the Nutcracker, Midsummer
Night's Dream, 1994 Performed as a member of "Stars of Russian Ballet" on an International
Tour in Germany by invitation of Michael Tietz, impresario of International Ballet Center in
Berlin, 1994 Mr. Kedrov participated in International Ballet Competition in Jackson , MS as a
non competing partner of ballerina from Ballet Magnificat, 1995 Mr. Kedrov was invited to
work with Miyaki Ballet Co. in Tokyo, Japan, where he staged One act Ballet "Naiad and the
Fisherman", choreographed the ballet
numbers, danced as a guest artist, and conducted master classes, 1996 Has appeared with
"Russia Ballet Institute" in Tokyo, Japan, performing premier of Genrich Mayorov's ballet
"Tchaikovsky Grand Pas" and "Diana
and Acteon" pas De deux by Vaganova.  1997 Mr. Kedrov received the Individual Artist
Fellowship Dance Award of Arts Commission of Tennessee











Guest Artist, Donald Laney

Donald Laney graduated from the University, of California, Irvine, with an MFA in Dance. He
is currently the co-Artistic Director of the West Virginia Dance Company. Before entering the
graduate program at UCI, Donald performed with the West Virginia Dance Company,
Houlihan & Dancers (Miami, FL), Randy James Dance Works (NYC), X-Factor (NC), and the
Charleston Ballet. While attending UCI, he had the opportunity to perform for Donald
McKayle, Loretta Livingston, Lisa Naugle, and Christine Chrest, as well as presenting his own
choreography which was chosen to represents the university at ACDFA in 2003 and 2004.
Donald's work with Lisa Naugle and John Crawford has produced 3 dance videos that have
been presented at the Lincoln Center and in dance video conferences in Yugoslavia, Japan,
New Jersey, Michigan, Arizona, and at ADF in Durham, NC. Donald has served as the WV
Governor's School instructor in Dance, 2005 - 2007.
Mr. Laney has performed with Toneta Akers-Toler, both with the West Virginia Dance
Company and Theatre West Virginia since 1993. She has been a constant mentor, teacher,
and artistic advisor to Mr. Laney throughout his career.
Besides performing, Mr. Laney also pursues a career as a freelance artist in teaching,
choreographing, and costume design and construction. His choreography has been
presented by the WV Dance Company, Charleston Ballet, Greenbrier Valley Theatre,
Lees-McRae College, Cape Fear Regional Theatre, NC Stage Ensemble, and various high
schools around WV. Donald has been a guest instructor in modern dance at James Madison
University, UCI, Lees-McRae College, Charleston Ballet, and Jack Britt High School (NC).
Costuming credits include: WV Dance Company, Charleston Ballet, Muhllenburg College,
Theatre West Virginia, UCI, and Capital High School.
